About the Artist . Lexi DooleyThe show will consist of fine art from Lexi Dooley that includes sculpture and paper manipulated pieces made from recycled newspaper and vintage, found objects with an overall representation of twisted childhood fantasy. At an early age, Lexi Dooley had always been intrigued by vintage themes of fairy tale stories. With her fascination to the twisted, and slightly off childhood nightmares and fears, she began to take these distorted themes to the next level by manipulating her visions through paper manipulation and sculpture. Her major inspirations came from Brothers Grimm stories as well as Petah Coyne, a sculpturist with a focus on creating sculptures out of found materials with ethereal quality. “I enjoy depicting childhood nightmares and fears and love how it manifests into adulthood within my pieces,” says Lexi. In 2012, Lexi graduated from Otterbein University and continued to pursue deeper into her paper manipulator and sculptural career. Her work includes everyday materials including books, recycled newspapers, masking tape, packaging envelopes, wires, nails, and other found objects.
